My surname originates (several centuries ago) in Bielefeld. Though
I have not visited myself, a (since deceased) Great Uncle, who
traced the full family tree back to the first printed use of the
surname, did repeatedly, and several Rosenkoetters (only they spell
it the right way, with the umlauted o rather than an oe) reside
there, including one with whom my father and I have both corresponded
and he has met.
That said, the mystique is fun.
