this TRP was (1) our TRP's namesake, (2) brother to his great-grandfather
William, and (3) the family eminence who got cranky at Hawthorne for using
"Pyncheon" in _The House of the Seven Gables_ (when in fact the book's
family owed much more to Nat's own ancestors the Hathornes).
