I used Ancestry Plus library edition to discover Edythe Mae Pynchon's
genealogy and relationship to EFT as a first cousin. Check your local
library's website to see if they furnish Ancestry Library Edition.

Her Dad was Joseph Moyses Pynchon, born 18 May 1904. He was one brother of
OBA's father, Thomas Pynchon IV, who was his little brother. I also see an
elder brother named William who was 11 in 1910.

In 1910 Thomas Pynchon IV was 3 years old, and Joseph Moyses Pynchon was 5.
Their mother Carrie Moyses Pynchon, was the wife of WHC Pynchon, or William
H. Pynchon. Interestingly, in 1910, WH Pynchon died, so by time the census
was gathered that year, she was listed as a widow. She was 41 when Tom's
father was 3. The head of household then was her brother Merrill W Moyles
and they lived in Oyster Bay.

So, when Tom's father Thomas Pynchon IV had his children, and her father
Joseph M Pynchon had his children, they would have been first cousins, Tom
and Edythe. Who knows if they played together.

Fun with the local public library.

Jill
