Umm, not necessarily serious money -- Wikipedia sez median family income for
the hamlet of Oyster Bay is $73,500, vs US median of ~ $45K. Comfortable,
but not at the level that may be implied by "North Shore of Long Island" (or
my own earlier reference to the "Gatsby belt" there). I don't know the
hamlet, but can testify to some quite modest neighborhoods as well as
rolling-lawn estates in nearby Glen Cove, Huntington and Syosset. 

As the (admittedly few) surviving potato farmers of the Hamptons testify, a
lot depends on when you bought...
