we ARE light-years ahead of 'understanding', exploring sources and allusions, and associations for AtD....compared to GR one year later..........light-years in an apt metaphor.

  Trust me on this.

And, yes, why not more full length books on TRPs oeuvre?....I have wondered myself........
must say something about the change in the Academy.....and the time it is taking to
  'see him whole".....

I wonder, why not? AtD has been out less than a year; I'm sure comment
on GR circa 1974 was just as baffling to many. it's gonna take time. I
am somewhat perplexed why there were many overarching studies of the
early trilogy of novels--V, 49, GR. and not much since--studies
viewing Pynchon's work as a whole--Vineland, M&D, and AtD seem to lend
themselves to such a study and then a study for all 6--that's what I'm
hoping for over the next few years at least.
