I am not one to read a lot of biography, but The Power Broker is fantastic,
and indispensable to understanding the shape of modern New York.

The three volumes of Robert Caro's Life of Lyndon Johnson are fabulous,
withone more to come. (Also The Power Broker, Caro's bio of Robert Moses).

I, like jkyllo, liked Elias Canetti's memoirs.

Richard Ellman's bio of James Joyce.

U.S. Grant's memoirs are as good as advertised.

And any ofthe numerous Hemingway biographies are worth reading because his
life is more interesting than any other writer's. Probably Kenneth Lynn's
is
the best
