I think we can all agree that ALL wars are *BAD* wars.  And Monte's
last post was more an examination of rationalizations used to
justify/vilify actions, allegiances, us and others in the context of
war in general - a more universal consideration of the "human
condition" which I agree is Pynchon's intent in GR.

But this examination doesn't really give us a measure of what wars are
"good" (none) or "bad" (all) ones.  Nor does it offer much in the way
of practical advice.  Some wars are unavoidable - self preservation at
their core.  Some provocations require a response.  Some crimes
require a rebuke and a cessation of their continuance.  This was
Henry's objection to what he saw as condemnation of WW2 as "bad."

Both Monte and Henry are right, and I think they'd agree on their major points.
