Atdtda[20]: Ostend, being a Flemish town... [and a contest]

Another Pynchon note: as a kid I spent each summer in a small coastal
village on the Belgian coast, about 20 km from Ostend. There was a very
impressing hotel --now torn down, as most of one's fine memories, when
one grows older--, and it had a placque, stating the Rilke stayed there,
a summer or so before World War 1. I remember asking my mom who that
guy was, and she said he was an excellent German poet. Turned out later
that she was fond of the Duineser Elegien, of which she has a very
beautiful edition, printed in Sutterling, which she was even able to write.
Strange how a writer, like Rilke, like Pynchon, can permeate one's life.
Thank you for Atdtda[19].
Michel.
