didn't jbor have some thoughts on Italian futurism at one point?

Anyway, I picked up AtD on my lunch break today, meaning to
start where we're at (which, it is weird that the q-weapon makes
its appearance in almost the exact middle, p542) -

anyway, found myself relishing the very end instead with the
Chums & Chumettes, the Traverse wives, and then paging back
to Kit nosediving...

giving his yeehaw as the plane busts up a strike on a munitions
plant...very un-PC -- in fact, contra all that ol' Webb stood for...

I'm reminded of Gandhi someplace saying that it's better
to be a brave warrior than a cowardly pacifist (although
I know which I'd rather hang out with - you can always
encourage and embolden the cowardly, but even a courageous
pacifist has a tough time quelling the overly warlike - even if
you're lucky enough that they don't attack you physically,
they still will start getting into arguments like,
everybody has to die anyway, war means rapid technological
progress, and even really nihilist shit like
"prove to me why killing is bad" -- a real workout
for your pacifism, and it's hard to brush up on the canonical
reasons (if for some reason you haven't totally memorized them)
while they're assailing you ,
but you don't want to just wing it because you could end
up vouching for some screwball ethic that you don't really
intend to mean...)...

Peace! (because it just IS better than war)
