I'm just wigglin' this at you, so you can see what this section points at, but
here we are, tying up knots from earlier in the book---Cripple Creek, Moss
Gatlin, Christian Forbearance , Unions, Strikes---and the future right on into
Hollywood, Jesse Traverse and the Movies, all the way to Vineland.
Big tie, big knot.

6/16 - ATDTDA (36): 1007 - 1039 --

I'm not sayin' I'm gonna take it,
I'm just saying what it is,
                     and it is a prize,
                     ain't it?

                     "Cambridge personality
                     Bertie ('Mad Dog') Russell
                     observed,"

                     observed* Barry Nebulay,

                     "that most of Hegel's arguments
come down to puns on the word 'is'. . . ."
                     AtD 538

*Note the mirrored 'observation'.
By the way---yes, this is a time traveler from the f-f-f-uture

[damn, gotta adjust this transponder],

a trespasser, if you will---breathlessly requesting possible links for
Quarterninions, Physics and the Nebular Hypothesis as it would
apply to Ostend in the context of all of Pynchon's writings and the
fat, juicy [slippery] center of Against the Day in particular. And what
about that "w term', a-and that mathmatical paper by
Edmund Whittaker---a-a-and if that ain't a big tie to Gravity's Rainbow,
what is and what ain't?

And while we're at it, can somebody please to explain 'ass-backwards' to me?
