OK, well even though I think you understood what I was asking, I'll
re-phrase my question: The fans -- or listeners -- of what bands produce the
"aren't we so hip...audience[s]?"

If you don't have an answer or want to play, just say so, my man!  So
evasive.  But maybe rightfully so; it's taxing to be a music grouch, and if
you're too clear on yr position, you're open to criticism from the league of
fellow grouches.  And so I think what I wanted to say is that in some
people, there will always be anxiety about other music fans, you know?  Like
fear that they know more obscure stuff than I do (cultural capital), so I'll
denigrate them and say that they don't even really like the music and are
just in it to seem cooler than thou.  Keith, we will still think you're cool
even if you don't know what other bands the members of Naked City are in,
all right??
