879.1- 22 "clairvoyante" female clarvoyant
*******************
879.1- 23 - more of the same s/m dialogue with Yashmeen taking on
the role of Cyprian's "tutoress."
*******************
879.32 - Yashmeen on the courage it takes to break the norms: "We
will be as brave as we must."
** reminds me of Joan of Arc telling the Dauphin (don't remember the
playwright), "Hang on, Charles. We'll be in Orléans, We'll march
right up."
*******************
879.33 - "Carnivale" a masked affair in much of Europe but not in
Venice in 1908-9.
"The Austrians took control of the city on January 18, 1798 and it
fell into a decline which also effectively brought carnival
celebrations to a halt for almost two centuries."

879.34=35 "skies too drawn and pallid to weep for the fate of the
cyclic Christ"
On first glance that would refer to the church year - Christ is born,
lives, dies, is resurrected and then, the following December is born
again
BUT!
There is another version of the Cyclic Christ (I do note that
Pynchon does not use a capital on the Cyclic part) - and very (!)
strange one, probably a seriously bizarre hoax. I found it on a
conspiracy forum
Otoh, in some ways it does seem relevant, somehow, to what's coming.
