the lesson that I'd rather take from the alternate history
is that perhaps in a century, an Israel which didn't proceed
on the principles of Realpolitik, but stayed the course of admirable
restraint which in many ways it has exemplified so far -
so much so that its deviations are all the more painful...
oops, trailed off...
perhaps in a century, an Israel that continues to defend itself
from atrocities while attempting to avoid committing
atrocities will earn some respect for that
- because it's hard to imagine "British ministers [or anyone]
weeping uncontrollably" at the funeral of a Realpolitik Israeli head of state
- or at that of any Realpolitik practitioner, isn't it?
