Neal Stephensons rather decent-reading The Baroque Cycle trilogy.

this is great especially for the 3/4th of the ways we humans are like
animals, imho and for this: "Rationality, however, is really only the
ability to form "indubitable
connection[s] of ideas" and to follow them to their "infallible
