AtD p. 859-860, Carnevale, the fateful masked ball

Recently I read Arthur Schnitzler's "Traumnovelle" (on which Eyes Wide Shut is based)
and it simply blew me away ... It's short, shocking and perfect.

PS: Freud admired Schnitzler very much and thought --- check out his famous
birthday-letter from 1922 ("Ja ich glaube, im Grunde Ihres Wesens sind Sie ein
psychologischer Tiefenforscher, so ehrlich unparteiisch und unerschrocken wie
