So what is Cyprian is expected to do?
nominally he's "pull[ing] some people out"

..."some people" turns into Danilo.
Cyprian didn't shirk the mission, because he figured
(one surmises) that taking it on might actually prove his best
chance to save Yashmeen: delegating Vlado might prove
more effective against Theign than anything Cyprian himself
might do (he's just now finally learned to dodge Theign's slaps)

So OK, Yashmeen, caffeinated, grants us a vision, like those
earlier visions (Kit with Tesla in Colorado - a possible colleague,
something Tesla sorely needed; and Yashmeen in Cambridge
with Hilbert - granting him what would become the Hilbert-Polya
conjecture) - here begins to understand "something
of which Ramanujan's Formula was a *special case*" (816)

While we're reeling with that, she loses her hat, the
wind hits her with a full Marilyn...and Vlado appears.

Vlado has his own notebook, it seems, perhaps like Dave Monnroe's
notebooks full of Elvish and physics...

well, it's all there in the text and I'm'a trail off here,
advantage of an informal forum like W.A.S.T.E. - if this was a
paper I'd have to grind out a bunch of buttressing for my conclusion,

which is simply that Yashmeen's math quest is the pinnacle of
what I would like to understand here (that and Kit's - Twin Peaks,
eh?), that the visions they bear were lost with the Lost Generation
but are still out there and need to be proferred again...

but also, Eastern European sociology and geography are fascinating,
and well worth pondering.
And yet those sexy bits bear some returning to as well.
