I am sure everyone is tired of my requests for help, but I have been working on my thesis for five years and it is hard to stay motivated. I recently found this list and find it very motivating, mainly because of the knowledge found in the contributors to this list.
Let me just says that I got great response when I asked if Pynchon was the most written about author post-World War II.
The couple authors that I was directed to never said definitely he was the most written about, but only that he has a great deal written about him. Michel Berube in particular just says that there is a great deal written.
To clarify someone pointed out that there may be a great deal of academic discourse, but certainly someone like J.K. Rowling will have more words written about her including websites and blogs.
Finally, Heikki Raudaskoski writes, "Pynchon certainly used to be the most written about post-WWII"
U.S. writer. I recall Berube confirming it too.
But arguably Toni Morrison has taken the lead. I just checked
a quite reliable indicator, the MLA database: the subject
"Morrison, Toni" gives 1748 hits, "Pynchon, Thomas" 1323.
Pynchon was "ahead" when I last made the comparison. Must've
been around 1998.
Thanks to all that contributed.
