This is a real band. One member, Noah [sorry, don’t remember his last
name] sported a Matt Groening-esque * florescent chartreuse mono-
mohawk and some pretty severe acne. He worked at the same “Tower
Records” where I was employed in 1984, shelving records, playing with
the shrink wrap machine and answering the store phone with “Burger
King!”. While I’m not sayin’ that TRP knows about this band, this is
the sort of information that can help us get to the higher ups and is
worth rill' money, if you catch my drift. C.O.P. just reeked of the
times and are an altogether too perfect parallel to the Vomitones.
Now if OBA knows C.O.P. on account of being in/around Aptos and the
band liking to go where the gettin’ is greener [if ya catch my drift]
then Isaiah 2-4 is just a hop, skip and. . .
"He's got a good idea, if only you'd listen, Pop."
"Pop this." Zoyd ate a Chee-to he'd been planning to throw.
Moondoggie, for example, in Gidget [1959], after all. ... "
==============================================
In one of the first episodes, the producers sent Gidget's
boyfriend Moondoggie east to college with the convenient
understanding that both were free to date others while
separated, thus opening plots to a variety of complications
and guest stars.

And of course protective daddy impulses loom now. Zoyd’s obviously
putting in the effort [sort of], and has some natural fear of this
“ . . .NBA-sized violence enthusiast who might or might not be fucking
his daughter. . .”, but at the same time wants his little girl to be
happy.
"Isaiah!" hollered the girl, "let's move it mah man, no telling
how long he's even gonna be in this good of a mood," and
out of another dimension, where he'd been waiting in orbit,
emerged Isaiah Two Four, who today, Zoyd noticed, had
his long Mohawk colored a vibrant acid green, except at
the tips, where some magenta shade was airbrushed on.
Now these happened to be Zoyd's two all-time favorite
colors, and Prairie, who had given him enough T-shirts
and ashtrays in the quaint sixties combo, knew it.
Now everybody knows TRP’s favorite color combo, right?
Going through the P-List archives for September/October VLVL [which I
recommend] here’s an informed response concerning “the musical
statements of Septic Tank or Fascist Toejam” from schwitterZ:
. . . I tried to find a sound file for you all because I think it could
serve as an example of the sonic dissonance I imagine the
Vomitones perpetrating . . .
http://waste.org/mail/?list=pynchon-l&month=9810&msg=31561&sort=date
. . .which is part of why I thought “C.O.P.” as such a pertinent point
of reference, esp. considering the noise quotient of C.O.P. But
schwitterZ’s missive’s worth it for the band name he references—
Fascist Jock Itch— and lyrics like:
forlorn lists true contempt destruct dripping red is it time to come
clean
wash away everything hold the frame still life focus ones intent to
not be
noticed lost in lies graceful charms losing touch with everyone
management
terms and conditions waiting for own in addition contract is raised THE
WORLDS GREATEST MORTUARY
The Uzi reference now [2008] has even more registration/mis-
registration with this wonderful bit of Post-Cake pop:

Of course, what an Uzi is and where it came from is clearly in the mix:
The Uzi gun was designed by Major (Captain at the time) Uziel Gal
of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
The weapon was submitted to the Israeli army for evaluation and
won out over more conventional designs due to its simplicity and
economy of manufacture. Gal did not want the weapon to be
named after him, but his request was ignored. The Uzi was
officially adopted in 1951.

Just a girlie with a gun . . .
