As Vineland lays on the satire pretty thick, yuppification and all  
things "New Age" get heavy play. A lot of the "New Age" stuff, in the  
forms they were found in back in the olden days, make their way into  
AtD.  And Pynchon always had weird foods going on, like that fondue  
with too much kirsch, or the strange meals little Praire prepares as  
she joins up with the the Sisterhood of Kunoichi Attentives.
