When I was a young man hitchhiking around the country, I sang the song(s) of
a city as I waited for a ride to it, e.g. Memphis (Information), (I'm going
to) Kansas City, etc.  Almost hallucinating one dehydrated, half-starved
cold night on a ramp, it was (Do you know the way to) San Jose.  

I still do it, but not out loud.
