If you have any interest in early 20th century political goings on, I  
heartily recommend Ruth Price's biography of Agnes Smedley. A  
sympathetic, but also apparently honest, warts and all, bio. Smedley  
was a fascinating woman. Read the wiki on her. Don't bother with the  
other earlier hagiograph.
