Not to sound too negative, but just about everything's worse in the  
Central Valley.

Your 1000% right about the Tule Fog. A big part of my connection to  
Pynchon's writing has to do with his descriptions of places I've been  
and he pretty much nails Tule Fog and car culture in the Valley.
