2666 is next on my to-read list. I'm in the middle of 100 Years of Solitude right now.
Since the library is so easy, I'm stingy about what I own: reference works; short stories (good for a quick re-read); and stuff too durned long for a library check-out (a.k.a., Pynchon).
My imaginary gift certificate would purchase:
* Borges
* The Great Fairy Tale Tradition: From Straparola and Basile to the Brothers Grimm (Norton Critical Editions) (Jack Zipes, ed.)
* Pictures Showing What Happens on Each Page of Thomas Pynchon's Novel Gravity's Rainbow by Zak Smith
* Today I Wrote Nothing: The Selected Writing of Daniil Kharms
* Barthelme
And there's also the Twilight Zone Radio Dramas, now available on CD...
