          Ya Sam:
          Hi everyone!
My stint as a host for pp. 748-778 begins today, but
before starting I have to apologise for not being
thoroughly prepared. Looking at the few notes I have
scribbled so far I realise that most of these just double
what anyone can find at PynchonWiki, and although I
tried to fish something extra, I have to admit that what
is going to follow is a pathetic googling+cut and paste
affair, without much of an insight on my part. Those
will be annotations of sorts, with some questions and
appeals to the audience. Sorry for being self-defeating
and discouraging from the very start, but that's the way
          things are at the moment.

Are you right there, Michael, are you right? Do you
think you can hold on by sitting tight? Well,
of course, it's awful angelous. Still I don't feel
it's so dangelous. Ay, I'm right here, Nickel,
and I'll write. Singing the top line why it
suits me mikey fine. But, yaghags hogwarts
and arrahquinonthiance, it's the muddest thick
that was ever heard dump since Eggsmather
got smothered in the plap of the pfan.

And before it gets to any thicker, let me clean the plap from the pfan,
no eggsmathers to Mickey Me seein' as I'm Veganin; now, guess it's
tiome to light a candlebar or two. To Glenn, the ruckus he interso pro
voided Gimme Thanks, Gimme Shelter. Self defeeting we Google the
Goddess and trance travel to Sham-ball-ah, where Noted Uyghur
troublemaker Al Mar-Fuad awaits, ancient Greening in hand, soon
to flower into one of the Compassionate one's anti-demon devices.
Only last week I discovered that Jai Durga:

Is Kali's mother, and that Kali:

http://jblstatue.com/kali.html

is in fact destroying the Demons of stupidity and ignorance.

So I'm sure Ya Sam can find his own way into Shambahala, but I
wanted to point out how our beloved author is placing this delightful
warrior deity at the very gates of the holy city, on pages 757/758.
This, of course, goes under the Cohens & Koans theme already
established elsewhere. There is knowledge of a variety of potential
religious/spiritual paths worthy of a Joseph Campbell or James
Joyce, yet humor [as always for Pynchon] is an essential aspect
of OBA's spiritual blend, perhaps misdirecting from secrets that
will always stay self-secret anyway, as the path to the holy city is in
no way obvious.
