Golomyanka
The golomyankas (lit. fat fish) or Baikal oilfish are two species of Baikal oilfish, peculiar sculpin-like species endemic to Lake Baikal in Russia. They are the principal ecological competitor to the omul, and represent a primary food source for the Nerpa seal. They are easily identifiable, and are large enough (at 15-20 centimeters) to be easily seen. Golomyanka are unusual for their habit of moving throughout the entire water column of Lake Baikal without much regard for changes in pressure, although they can exist only within a very narrow range of temperatures and generally tend to find their ecological niche at 700-1600 feet. They are considered the world's most abyssal freshwater fish.

Golomyanka (fat fish). Golomyanka fish lives down in the depth of Lake between 700-1600 feet where the water temperature is low. This fish is small in sizcontains 15-20 cm long. It contains about 30% of oil, rich in vitamin ¨^A¨m. Native Siberians used it as the full for their lamps, and also medicinally. Old residents said that long time ago, after the storms, golomyankas were picked alongside the shores, the fat was melted and used in treatments for rheumatism, atherosclerosis and for healing wounds that would not skin over for long. The golomyanka is the most numerous fish in Baikal, its resources amount for about 150 thousand tons, but on neither of its life stages does it swim in great gatherings or schools, and, that's why, it's not entered in the food-fish list.

Swithin Poundstock
St. Swithin
(SWITHUN).
Bishop of Winchester; died 2 July, 862.
Very little is known of this saint's life, for his biographers constructed their "Lives" long after his death and there is hardly any mention of him in contemporary documents. Swithin was one of the two trusted counsellors of Egbert, King of the West Saxons (d. 839), helping him in ecclesiastical matters, while Ealstan of Sherborne was his chief advisor He probably entrusted Swithin with the education of his son Ethelwulf and caused the saint to be elected to the Bishopric of Winchester in succession to Helmstan. His consecration by Ceolnoth, Archbishop of Canterbury, seems to have taken place on 30 October, 852. On his deathbed Swithin begged that he should be buried outside the north wall of his cathedral where passers-by should pass over his grave and raindrops from the eaves drop upon it.

Poundstock, (Cornish: Treggorlann), is situated in the Deanery of Trigg Major and Hundred of Lesnewth. It is bounded on the north by Marhamchurch, on the east by Marhamchurch and Week St Mary, on the south by Jacobstow and St Gennys, and on the west by Widemouth Bay. The name Poundstock is Saxon and means 'cattle enclosure', and the cattle pound was a feature of the village for centuries.
>From time immemorial a fair was held at Poundstock on Rogation Monday, and the revel or Dedication Festival is still observed on that day, the Monday before Ascension Day. It is recorded as Pondestock in the Domesday Book of 1086. A church has stood upon this spot for 14 centuries, and the mediaeval Guildhouse which stands nearby is the only surviving one of its kind in Cornwall.
