Pynchon on art and the depression/ recession!( Jones sez)...from a Guardian piece today, 2/8

Art critic Jonathan Jones does not quote Pynchon in his quote in the
Guardian Unlimited article,

"Thomas Pynchon said in his novel V that, after the war, the depression went
inside, and that is true of their work. They were producing art in a time of
prosperity, but shaped by the depression," so you're not going to find a
Pynchon quote to match his contention.

Though I can't think of any Pynchon quote to support him, I also can't think
of one to directly support my supposition that Pynchon probably has plenty
of respect for the social realism and other art that was produced during the
depression, but ymmv.
