Misc. os, 721 and others

Would anyone care to make the case that to live
in "uncertainties", as the psychologists say, is generally
the best, maybe the only, way the positive characters can in TRPs world,
in general?

Was the uncertainty too much for Slothrop, hence.....gone?

That is interesting. Keith J. Devlin, a noteworthy author of popular
mathematics books, says something about mathematicians' mind set in the
first chapter. I'm reading his _The Millennium Problems_ right now. I don't
have it in hand but the he says something of their strong crave for
certitude, & truth, and how this sets them apart from other people
It's a very good book by the way. He also wrote a book called The Math Gene
which apparently goes into that dimension as well.
