just speculating--i think TRP pbly read Recognitions but no proof.

i think since they got compared alot and in one case said to be the
same person that at minimum respected each other's work--Gaddis
mentions GR by name in Agape Agape; Pynchon mentions carpenter's
gothic in Vineland

and since Gaddis died in the late 90s, I believe Vibe is a fitting
tribute to Rektall Brown

but i'm just guessing
