Gmail reads the rich text as rich text, even if you're sending plain text,
but be careful when you reply to rich text messages: if you want to replay
with plain text, you need to make that choice explicitly.

Gmail lets you switch from one to the other with the click option just
below the "To" and "CC" boxes. I think it's the best free email
available.
And, like I said, somehow I'm not getting any of the "garbage"
associated w/ rich text posts to the P-list. I don't know why.
