Other things in ATD have made me think of oil in the long run, it makes
sense but why him, isn't Derrick more of a weapons sales guy rather than an
oil sales guy? Or are they intertangled and that's the point? 
But it does make sense for the epoch of where the book is leading to.

Not unlikely at all, coinsidering what the stakes of Macbeth-ish power plays
