More foreshadowing forays or Retroshadowing

A p-lister offline has come up with the word "retroshadowing" to describe, perhaps, the tropes an allusions in AtD
that point along the continuum to Gravity's Rainbow.....I'm using the word.

P. 701..."these chocolate and raspberry articles"....reminiscent of the English candies in GR?
(Here they are good-tasting; by GR made by the British, awful)
 
p. 708.."napthal fragrance"...Cf. "naptha winters" early in GR....
 
Sadomasochism as metaphor of perverted "political' power?...The powerful hurt the powerless who have to take it and like it, so to speak?
 
Most, of course, Cyprian's awareness that his every move is known......Cyprian as Slothrop's precursor?
 
Vienna here in AtD as where GR 'starts'?
