correction of quote,
"attitude toward women that got more than ambivalent"
should have read
"that never got more than ambivalent" (though with
Yzhitza it almost did, actually)

also from 715
715 37 "talk about the slow return of the repressed!"
Freud was in Vienna at this time, was he not?
(could have been the onlooker?)
this of course celebrates the satisfying
and necessary connections between
the movements of the psyche and those of the polis...

716 3 "School of Velocity...moments of passionate
emergence among the mechanical fingerwork"
There are a raft of them on Youtube...
anyway, what does this tell us?
Cyprian - whether or not he himself played
and recognized Czerny* - is a music lover
(also nailed down by the Leo Slezak reference)

(Leo Slezak got the New York gig in 1909
but never gave up his Vienna contract either -
early "jet-setter"?)

Slezak page with extraordinarily nice pics:
http://www.cantabile-subito.de/Tenors/Slezak__Leo/hauptteil_slezak__leo.html

also, a palpable flaneur-moment: standing on
the sidewalk listening to music through a window.

I think Pynchon is telling us that this is a Good Thing
to do, because - mirabile dictu! - who should round
the corner but Yashmeen!

okay, 4 pages tomorrow night, 4 pages
Thursday night (early Friday am, really),
and a scherzo/coda Friday night, Sat am

* PS Czerny was Viennese
