Hi all--for the next round of discussions--apologies for bailing on
hosting. workload's a bitch.
there is a veiled reference to Gaddis' The Recognitions on pg, 669 of ATD:
Kit's rectal alert at the mention of Scarsdale Vibe who is in Europe
buying art; Vibe is quite like Recktal Brown, one of the heavys in
The Recognitions, uber-capitalist buyer/seller of art who, like Vibe,
persuades an innocent, Wyatt Gwyon (Kit) to sell his soul, so to
speak, by working with him.
some other notes:
667-action is at Swiss Sanatorium
Reef meets Yash 1st time
668
Yash and Kit discussion--cf Mann's magic mountain-- Hans Castorp and
French woman--missed/mixed signals romance?
Reef reckless, Frank reasonable, Kit religious--Brothers K no
doubt--Kit=Misha, Frank=Ivan, Reef=Dimitri?--not an exact
correspondence, just a thought
on pg. 673
kit dreams of webb at family social gathering--like vineland soiree w/
beckers/traverses??
Webb haunting future in Vineland? which after all is a book obsessed
with ghosts of all sorts
675
Kit's 2nd dream-
magic bullet theory-n and n+1--is this another veiled reference to JFK?
