Chabon interviewing Hall sounds like a tasty combination.

Coincidentally, I read "Gentlemen of the Road" last night -- a quick
pleasure (for fantasy readers who know Fritz Leiber's stories of Fafhrd and
the Gray Mouser, it's much like those minus the sorcery).

I expect that I'll remember Chabon's brief afterword longer than the book
itself. It's an interesting combination of apologia and 'why should apology
be needed?' for a Serious _New Yorker_ Contributor of Realistic Mainstream
Literary Attainment working in a pulp-y genre. It casts some light on his
Kavalier & Clay (superhero/comix culture) and Yiddish Policeman
(SF/alternate history)... and perhaps even a few more distant glints on
those embarrassing puns, funny names, pie fights, sex scenes, and other
lamentable excesses in TRP.
