Bizarrely, at first I heard this as if it were one of Norman Mailer's chesty
pronouncements about the ongoing Great American Novel competition he/we
imagined:
"It was not easy going ten rounds with Papa Hemingway, but..."
"It was not easy running stride for stride with Flash Scott Fitzgerald,
but..."
"Dickinson Arena was silent as tiny, fiercely competitive Emily mounted the
paralllel syntax..."
