To be as blunt as possible

. . . . that reminds me . . . .

My big theme in Against the Day is Bi-Location.
I'm going into Glenn Scheper territory,
so gird yer grid for a big one.

Bi-Location--the Shaman's big trick

[along with being in two places at once while really being nowhere at all]

[oh yeah, and the snake biting its tail]

is one of the biggest themes in Against the Day,
Mason & Dixon and Gravities Rainbow, and all the rest. . . .

Used like Sherman & Peabody's Wayback machine, offering up
satirical material that touches on concepts in play at the time
of each Novel's release.

It just so happens that the contents of Against the Day have an awful lot
to do with the contents of the Metaphysical Bookstore/Gift Shop where
I work. There a-a-a-are many, many insider's jokes that touch on the
"Neo-Pagan Scene" in Against the Day, much as there are many many
insider's jokes that touch on the emergent Wicca/Witchcraft moment
of the sixties, touching on Fernando Arrabal's "Panic" movement in
"The Crying of Lot 49."

The Panic movement is an example of the co-joining of Anarchy & Witchcraft.

That "Pan Shamanic Empire" that freaks out the Colonizers.

Bi-sexuality/Bi-Location---Firesign Theater drop-in's:

"Hello, I'm Aleister Crowley,
and I hope you're enjoying the all-night images. . . .
Hello, this is Aleistier Crowley of
Duke of Madness Motors,
and just like this little servo robot over here,
we're all a little shorter than we used to be. . ."

And three-ways---sounds kinda like the Ren Faire Scene
and Geli Tripping is obviously a transposed 1970's L.A.
Wiccan [think Stevie Nicks and don't say I didn't warn ya]
[or My Mom, for that matter].

And what's goin' on in "Against the Day" looks a lot like the
current, very much expanded, Neo-Pagan scene, just as Geli
coulda slipped into the Paramount Ranch bare-assed naked
and no-one would be the wiser.

And all these threads/ribbons in Against the Day appear to be
pointing to Reclaiming.
