Final paragraph:
**************

891. 22

Yashmeen's dream: "... a hunter arrived at last, a trainer of
desert eagles..."

* Reef,  I presume

**************

891. 22-.24 "... to unmask against her soul the predatory descent
that would seize her, fetch her away, fetch her back, held fast..."

** Yashmeen as eagle - descending to prey on Reef the hunter, but to
back off, come again but they are both held...

**************

891. 24-.25 "... in talons of communion, blood, destiny..."

* in the grip of lust, the "spiritual" Carnevale thing and a coming
birth.

**************

891.25-.26 "... to be plucked off the defective Riemann sphere she
had been taking for everything that was, ..."

* I think Yashmeen is, in her dream, being plucked off the defective
earth and she had not here-to-fore not considered a higher
consciousness or other dimensions.

Riemann sphere: In mathematics, the Riemann sphere is a way of
extending the plane of complex numbers with one additional point at
infinity, in a way that makes expressions such as

well-behaved and useful, at least in certain contexts.

Some graphic representations: (note the triangles made by the
individual lines through the sphere)

nice graphic image - perhaps this rendition of the Riemann sphere is
what the balloon part of the Inconvenience looks like (Riemann sphere
with the twice iterated modified Bessel function of the first kind
(nu=-2.3) http://www.nada.kth.se/~asa/bilder/besselitersphere.jpg

**************

891.25-.27 - "... and borne in some nearly vertical angle of ascent
into realms of eternal wind..."

Yashmeen, by way of Reef (perhaps Cyprian) and pregnancy has
transcended and ascended.

*********
891.27-.28 "... to hover at an altitude that made the Eurasian
continent a map of itself, above the glimmering of the rivers, the
peaks of snow..."
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/Two-point-
equidistant-asia.jpg
** not quite the same effect, I'm sure

*********
891. 28-29 "... the Tian Shan..."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tien_shan_sat.jpg

*********
891.29 "... and Lake Baikal..."
http://tinyurl.com/5gshht (and go to only 4 points up the scale line)
http://www.wildernessphotography.com/Baikal/index.html#59

*********
891.30 "... and the great inextinguishable taiga."
http://www.wildernessphotography.com/Baikal/taigaswshorehor.html
http://www.nationalgeographic.com/wildworld/profiles/
terrestrial_pa.html#boreal

** "inextinguishable" ?
http://tinyurl.com/53ut85
and see page 31:
"forested and wooden Rus' is even in a special, exceptional position
in comparison with other countries: she is like an inextinguishable
bonfire which, ..."

** I'd say Yashmeen in pretty highly ascended - and ackshally, I'd
say transcendence (and the associated ascension) are a motif if not
an actual theme in AtD. Some of the major characters (although not
all!) are transcending and ascending all sorts of things from the
atmosphere and time and self to revenge and desire. They seem to be
transcending anything which holds them back - known or unknown. No
one is doing it in any disciplined way - it's all as if by grace.
