more transcendence

 Didn't mean to be flippant about it.  Tendency to reach for a laugh
when not clear on a topic.

remembering even further back...
Etudes Transcendantes - pretty nice trumpet etudes that
after years of lessons and daily practice were a privilege to play

I guess that is my best image of transcendence.  Think it may
even be on-topic.

Gathering a bit of sensible verbiage:
Transcendental philosophers, Emerson 'n' them...
"the Oversoul" - transcending the humorous notion
of it being kind of like an overcoat - rather it's a higher
shared soul...

Is that relevant to "transcendence" in AtD?
The idea of reaching beyond the current status, the idea and strongly
expressed feeling that an individual per se is incomplete.

Whether joining in a couple or threesome, or in a movement of
emancipation such as the labor struggle (as idiosyncratically
as Reef does so...) or in music as Ruperta is about to,
isn't transcendence akin to the grace that also occurs intermittently
(and seems to be linked, at the end, with the uncompensated good
that Fleetwod doubts - with his Vibe-ish calculating ways...
and that the Chums keep seeking) ?

Like the beginning of Vineland and the moment of Cyprian
(which I kind of tend to see as a deliberate reference back to Zoyd's
awakening) where it dawns upon him suddenly but not suddenly
that he's feeling something different -
or better put, that he's not feeling something that he was familiar with...
but yes, also not devoid of a feeling that could be described as new.

transcendence: I'm still not clear on it, but that may only
come after working on it more...
