In dialogue (only later shared by Kit to Dally), we cut edit to Kit tending
a bar in Pera where arms dealers, union activists, businessmen, all mingle.
Suddenly he must flee to Italy again, Young Turks having mistaken him for a
threat, fast on his heels. I'd like to delve into Kipling's _Kim_ to see if
I'm missing anything.

There is a great train caper where Dally travelling east, and Kit
travelling west, intersect in a daring calculus word problem filled with
distracting characters, that might well be performed on a silver stage or
even a vaudeville stage, as interpreted by some future grandchildren. The
would be abducting parties in it only to abduct a Zaharoff girl as currency
to the arms dealer, and they speak of the submarine weapon. They will know
her by her titian hair. Once safe, Dally's skin blooms into a glow, the
love scene in the paprika field p. 913 needs no paraphrase, We are
challenged to watch a boffo operetta which I will provide some clues to
soon. Then Kit and Dally settle up some history and resume lovemaking.

It's worth noting the status of this section of the book, and the book in
general, and by my own interpretation, history itself at the time as
Pynchon savors it, as being a sum of delays, setbacks, tangents, flipflops,
as if a historical hurtling forward motion switched rails, a pause button
got pushed, whilst intermission music or such played, what do you think?
