Not Pynchon but Proustian, with Pynchon-related PS

In the new book, The Woman Who Can Not Forget, this woman discusses her cues
  for all of the involuntary memories she has..............the smell of an oven-baking potato
  always brings back one of her earliest memories: the smell of them baking the first time when she was two years old............................
   
  PS. When she allows herself to 'relive' old memories, kinda like mental surfing through
  her mind, she calls it "time-traveling"....
