One aspect of all the readings that can illumine here does strike me as being
about the homosexual question, so to speak..............at the literal level
the fact of it in recorded history.............
I rememeber the line from yashmeen that they are the wave of the future.....I keep thinking
TRP has this section to show how sex, relationships expanded in the 20th Century, after
that Viennese headshrink, etc........
Here's to ponder: there is a lot of gentler (than GR) S/M here.........S/M is a fact
too, of course, but it---along with homosexuality, maybe, I throw out controversially----is also
a metaphor, yes?.....S/M is part of the very humanly corrupt world of Cyprian's work........
(BTW, how is Yashmeen getting by? Remit from her dad? )

not the 1:50,000,000 view then...
well, ok,
1 question that strikes me, is Pynchon grappling with "the homosexual
question" (as he might phrase it) --
some of the questions Reef asks Cyprian, for instance
Reef discovers, as millions of heteros have discovered,
it's possible to care very deeply about somebody who happens
to have a different sexual perspective...
he's enough of a party animal to even partake somewhat,
but that's (as a friend of mine used to say) "besides the point"
