Ah, the layers of meaning. It surely, as Bekah noted, points to all these
things and more without naming any. The allusions to alchemy are clear and
those point to religion as religion finds common roots with alchemy, with
the power to change nature by acting upon the world, to become agents of
time by taking the role of Saturn (Kronos), to create new forms out the
mind's strange ordering of chaos in the meta-forms to which we devote
ourselves.
Bekah asked about naming in Genesis. It is Genesis 2:19 that says, "So the
Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and
brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man
called every living creature, that was its name." The remainder of the
chapter goes on to recount the creation of woman and the innocence of man
and woman running naked in the garden of Eden.
Blasphemy is a relative term somehow, yes? Born, maybe, of the knowledge of
good and evil? Who has that knowledge? What is Good? What is Evil?
Doesn't T.R. P. ask us to think about that in his not-naming, just kind of
pointing at that over there sort of way?
