pages 186ff.....Nechaev throws the uselesness of D. as writer at D. 
Dry old man who does/changes nothing......the oft-stated line thrown at writers: They make nothing happen.......Change NOTHING despite what they see and say.

N. says because D. hated his father, a petty tyrant whom the peasants finally killed, then he sees history this way..........

But it is not...Revolution is the end of that. History will begin again new. Carte Blanche. Year One.

P. 189. Nechaev forsees the Russian and the Chinese revolutions with his words...that is, Coetzee makes him see them.....

Even God will be envious, says Nechaev...even the angels and the dead will start anew.

D. grasps and kisses Nechaev.....just like Jesus does to the Grand Inquisitor in The Brothers Karamazov......

We see where C thinks Nechaev lies...with that other JC allusion.....N's movement is like institutionalized Christianity vs. the uninstituionalized JC's innocent goodness....(turn the other cheek)
