Lawrence Bryan: Now back to our regularly scheduled novelist.

So what'll it be? Lookin' at CoL 49 & Vineland, we've got a total of 537
pages [give or take a few depending on what counterfeit bootleg or
stripped remainder of '49' you've been reading out of.] My guess is
that those 537 pages will have a lot more to do with Inherent Vice than
V. will—we just went through a bit of V. redux anyway.

There's about 8 months until I.V. At a sprightly pace of 5 pages a week
we could cover both before the next episode of "Ruggles Follies."
There'd be two months of '49' and four or five of Vineland.

Or were there other plans?

Yr. obd. svt.,
Osbie Feel

P.S. somethin' tells me I.V. will be more CoL 49 than Vineland, but not
much more than. Maybe it's because CoL 49 is more of a psychedelic
noir than Vineland. And maybe it's because 1969 is closer to 1964 than
to 1984. But I fully expect to see Zoyd and Mucho, maybe even a flash
of Oedipa on the beach.
