I'd say just start 'er up on AtD. That little You-Tube video:

are displays of Quaterninons, the central math concept in AtD that's
likely to be foreign/weird/inaccessible. Quaterninons are "the
path not taken" in maths, save that they're currently being
revived because they are central to computer modeling and animation.
In any case, that's all I know, but knowing that gave me a major "ah- 
ha!'
moment and helped me understand why AtD's plots move and
re-appear the way they do.
