Confederacy of Dunces

I read this shortly after it was published on an extended trip around
the Pacific. Don't know if it was the circumstances of our Pacific
circumnavigation, but I rather enjoyed it as did my eleven year old
son and (somewhat older) wife. Some years later a copy found its way
to the top of a stack of books to eject from my library and
remembering how I had enjoyed it I decided to reread it. What a
difference in time and circumstance. I couldn't finish a reread, kept
wondering what I had enjoyed the first time through. Anyone else find
the second go somewhat of a bummer?
