Yea...'slur' is the wrong word....I guess I was offended (like those Pulitzer judges of GR) by the way it was stated. Bad for a Pynchon reader.

The book is good,I think,(although I have only read into it and read about it)  and, full disclosure, I once met the author. 

A Chicago bookseller reports 'confidentially' as it spreads like an Obama rally, that Michelle Obama bought a copy last week, I've heard from a friend in Nashville who has heard it from Chicago...

Your ob that both the fiction and non-fiction winners were stories involving mixed races is fascinating. It's in the Zeitgeist.
