Mucho thanks, and massive kudos, for finding the cover source, Robin.
 
Makes sense - I thought of Neil Young's 'Long May You Run' when I saw the car on the cover first time. "Maybe the Beach Boys have got you now..."
 
Seems maybe a bit lazy to use an existing picture for a Pynchon cover, even a touch insulting. And what a picutre!
