Up for auction is a book bearing the armorial bookplate of THOMAS
RUGGLES PYNCHON, father of the author. The book is titled, Life and
Times of Girolano Savanarola by Pasquale Villari. London: T. Fisher
Unwin, 1888. Translated by Linda Villari. First English edition Volum
1. 1/2 red leather and marbled boards. The leather is quite worn and
torn along the edges of the spine, only a fair copy of this biography
of the Italian monk and martyr. The bookplate itself is in very good
condition. Purchased at a yard sale at the family's Long Island home.
