The Rule of Phase Applied to History: Vidal, Adams, and Pynchon

According to Sarah Palin (Girl from the North Country) last night, history
apparently doesn't matter, i.e. it's all about look FORWARD (that is except
when repeating McPalin resume exaggerations ad nauseum).

History is just so much lipstick on a dead moose: you can wipe it off, but
you still have a dead moose.

"Remember "History is a Step-Function" from V.?"

A- and how about La Jarretiere? A,A- and Dally "becoming"
her in ATD? (p.1066) Not quite "adjusting" history, there,
but certainly adjusting the oeuvre. Thinking that scene in ATD
through, it would seem to indicate that Dally had spent some
quality time with V. and lived to tell the tale, after all. But she's
just putting the "Americans in Paris" on, no? She isn't the real
Jarretiere, is she?

Or is History all just a bunch of "raspberry syrup?"

I mean, Americans can be naive, but- History does
matter, doesn't it? Let's hope there are no rules
or functions that can ever be teased out and ultimately
controlled by Cheney and the rest of the "Top Brass."

Can you say, "Irreversible?"
